Best weather and top results for Black Falcon at the VLN 6
The Black Falcon team came to the Nürburgring with a big turnout on a wonderfully sunny day for the sixth VLN race. Out of the total of seven vehicles that began the training, six started the race – of which five saw the chequered flag with excellent results.
The first sensation already happened before the race: With a fabulous time of 8:16.938 since the introduction of speed limits, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup BF with the starting number 56 driven by "Gerwin" and Manuel Metzger made its mark ...
and managed to secure pole position in the SP7 class. Unfortunately the car then had an accident during the further course of the training which could not be repaired before the start of the race. That really was a shame, as a car and driver in top form would surely have done very well in the race.
In the next race, the SLS AMG GT3 with the starting number 2 and the drivers Hubert Haupt, Adam Christodoulou and Andreas Simonsen managed to get away from the rest of the field from the start. In the later course of the race, yellow flag phases led to unfortunate situations so that the dominance did not quite last until the end of the race. Heavy traffic had also made things particularly difficult and caused the team to lose a lot of time. Nevertheless, it was enough for a good second place in the overall standings and the fastest lap time for Adam Christodoulou at 8:07.832.
In the highly competitive Cup2 class Burkard Kaiser, Alex Toril and Miguel Toril also had a great result with a very pleasing fourth place. The team had already shown a good performance in training, and was able to keep up its good form throughout the race. What makes this result particularly impressive is the fact that this was the first race for Burkard Kaiser, Alex Toril and Miguel Toril in the 991 Cup. “We are more than happy with this result. After all, it was the first ever race for the two in the 991 Cup. Congratulations on such a great start!” Susanne Roth said after the race.
Already the fourth consecutive victory was celebrated by the drivers of the Porsche 997 Cup in the H4 class with Jürgen Bleul, "Willi Friedrichs" and Carsten Knechtges. For the trio it was a great race with great lap times, and a great finish on the podium and even a 25th place in the overall standings.
The drivers of the 991 Carrera with the starting number 395 drew attention to themselves in the V6 class with an outstanding feat of catching up. Aurel Schoeller, Sören Spreng and Daniel Schwerfeld had fallen back to position seven due to an early stop-and-go penalty, but were able to fight back to third position with a faultless performance and quick lap times.
The second vehicle in the V6 class was the BMW M3 CSL with the starting number 400 driven by Markus Enzinger and Christian Reiter. After a good start the vehicle was unfortunately involved in an accident in round 4 and thus had to retire from the race.
Last but not least, "Jens", Vincent Kolb and Holger Spelsberg finished the race fourth in the highly competitive V5 class. Vincent made his debut in the Porsche 981 Cayman and for "Jens" it was the first VLN race at all. Veteran Holger Spelsberg, who is familiar with the vehicle from various RCN and VLN races, already took over the Cayman halfway through the race and was able to race it into the “Top 50” of the eight vehicles in this class just before the end of the race.
“After this generally very successful weekend the team is really excited and looking forward to the 6-hour race in two weeks, in which the season highlight will take place with six vehicles again vying for the top spots. But until the race begins, the lights in Meuspath will probably go out much later than usual – after all, there is still a lot of work to be done on the car involved in the crash,” explained team head Alex Böhm after the race.
