BLACK FALCON took fourth place in both the CUP2-Pro and CUP3-Am classes at the third race of the season (15.04.2023) of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS). In addition, two other BLACK FALCON drivers successfully recorded their third result to achieve Permit A, thus punching their ticket for the faster car classes within the NLS.
BLACK FALCON Team IDENTICA: Thrilling duels and fourth place in hard-fought CUP2 class
Ben Bünnagel, Noah Nagelsdiek and Carlos Rivas put in a strong performance already in the morning qualifying session, placing the IDENTICA Porsche 992 GT3 Cup (#102) in third place on the grid in the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring (PETN) CUP2 class, which was extremely strong and featured 15 cars. The race in CUP2 offered the numerous spectators around the track plenty of action. First, starting driver Nagelsdiek took second place on the first race lap. This was followed by a fight for second to sixth place that was quite entertaining to watch. For the middle stint Rivas took over the IDENTICA Porsche. The experienced Luxembourger battled for second place for several laps and finally managed to pull away. Bünnagel went into the car for the final stint and controlled second place before the team lost well over a minute due to bad luck in a very long Code 60 zone on the lap of the final pit stop. While the competitors for the podium places pitted a lap earlier for the final stop, Bünnagel passed the danger zone in the Kesselchen area at only 60 km/h in compliance with the rules. By the time the competitors reached the spot after their stop, the speed limit had been lifted again in the nearly 1 km long high-speed section. As a result, the #102 dropped back two places and finished the race in fourth place in class after a remarkable performance by all drivers.
BLACK FALCON Team TEXTAR: Fourth place in CUP3-AM and Permit A for Axel Sartingen and Florian Wahl
The BLACK FALCON Team TEXTAR started at NLS3 with two Porsche Cayman GT4 CS in the CUP3 class.
Cabell Fisher and Didier Glorieux raced the #931 in the AM classification of the CUP3 class. After fifth place in qualifying, Glorieux started the race very strongly and overtook two competitors while still on the GP track. However, following a slip on an oil spill, the Porsche made contact with the track barrier near the Nordschleife entrance a short time later and was only able to continue the race with a great deal of luck after suffering serious damage to the front of the car. After a strong first stint, Glorieux handed over the car to Fisher for the remainder of the four-hour race. The American completed the first double stint of his Nordschleife career and mastered the challenge with flying colors. After a total of 16 race laps in a row, he crossed the finish line in fourth position in the AM classification of the CUP3 class and sixth overall in the CUP3 standings.
The sister car with the #932 was shared by Axel Sartingen and Florian Wahl. The duo was driving the Cayman GT4 CS in the restricted Permit-B specification. Both drivers needed just one more result to achieve Nordschleife Permit-A before the race. Sartingen and Wahl drove a flawless race and crossed the finish line as the best Permit B vehicle in the CUP3 class. Sartingen completed a total of 15 race laps in two stints, while Wahl was at the wheel for 9 laps. With this result, both drivers meet the requirements for Permit A and will each compete in a faster vehicle class at the 24-hour race in May.
