Porsche Carrera Cup Germany Rounds 1 & 2 - Race Report
At the first race weekend of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland at Spa-Francorchamps, BLACK FALCON started successfully into the season. Loek Hartog (#4) celebrated a strong debut in Germany's fastest one-make cup, finishing second twice in the rookie classification and in the top 10 overall. In the ProAm classification, reigning ProAm champion Carlos Rivas (#6) dominated the event and secured both race wins on the "Ardennes rollercoaster". After the first two races of the season, BLACK FALCON Team TEXTAR leads the championship standings in both the ProAm and Rookie classifications.
In the first race of the season on Friday afternoon, both BLACK FALCON drivers delivered outstanding performances with the new car, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992). Loek Hartog only started the race from 14th position overall after a mixed qualifying session. However, the 18-year-old fought his way forward steadily through the top-class field over the course of the race, impressing with his confident and sometimes spectacular overtaking maneuvers. Hartog crossed the finish line in 2nd place in the rookie classification and 7th overall.
Carlos Rivas delivered a perfect first race of the season right from the start. The Luxembourger started the race from pole position in the ProAm classification and from 18th overall and secured full points in the ProAm classification with an impressive start-finish victory and, coming 14th overall, also valuable championship points.
The second race of the weekend, held at noon on Saturday, once again saw two podium finishes in the classes for BLACK FALCON Team TEXTAR. This time Loek Hartog started the race from ninth position overall. The Dutchman was constantly involved in fierce fights for positions during the race and in the end finished second in the rookie classification and ninth overall.
As on the previous day, Carlos Rivas gave his eight opponents in the ProAm classification no chance. Thanks to a flawless performance, the 44-year-old secured his second start-finish victory in the second race and finished 18th overall.
Timo Frings, Head of Motorsport BLACK FALCON:
"As expected, the season opener of the Porsche Carrera Cup was fiercely contested. Carlos delivered a perfect performance and is getting along with the new car very well - you can't start the season much better than that. Loek lacked the necessary luck in qualifying, so he could not fight for the overall podium this time. However, in the rookie classification he was the best man of the weekend, so the BLACK FALCON drivers are now leading two out of three classifications. Overall, we are very satisfied with the season opener and look forward to the next rounds of the season at Oschersleben."
