Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup round 4: Hungaroring preview
Riding on a high following a run of successes across the spectrum of GT racing in 2018, BLACK FALCON will be making their debut appearance in the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup. The fourth round of the championship will be held at the Hungaroring, home of the Hungarian Formula One Grand Prix and a track famous for its tight and challenging layout.
Compared to the normal endurance events the team is used to in the Endurance Cup or VLN, where races are typically at least three hours long and even include 24-hour marathons, the Sprint Cup format features a pair of quick-fire races, each just an hour long. This means the team will distill down their experience of long-distance racing to its essence, leveraging the skills of the team and drivers to the maximum.
Driving the #6 Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the Silver Cup class in Hungary will be Hubert Haupt (Germany) and Luca Stolz (Germany): they’ll be joining a 23-strong grid of GT3 machinery.
BLACK FALCON have always wanted to compete in the Sprint Cup, so with schedules finally allowing the team to join the grid, they’ll be making the most of the opportunity. The team is aiming to bolster their strong position in the Silver Cup class – the scores for which can be taken from both Sprint and Endurance Cup events across the year.
Practice sessions on Friday lead into qualifying on Saturday morning that will set the grids for the two races. The first race will take place at 14:45 CET that afternoon, with the second at 15:30 CET on Sunday. Full live timing and streaming video of qualifying and the pair of races will be available at www.blancpain-gt-series.com/live, and you can support BLACK FALCON across all social media platforms: follow them via twitter.com/TeamBlackFalcon, facebook.com/teamblackfalcon/ and instagram.com/teamblackfalcon to get live action updates directly from the tracks, as well as fantastic images of the team in action.
