Team BLACK FALCON's preparations to launch into the 2018 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup are well underway. The team participated in the official pre-season test days, which took take place on March 13th and 14th ahead of next month’s opening round of the championship proper. Having won the Hankook 24 Hours Dubai in dominant style back in January – for an impressive fourth time since 2011 – BLACK FALCON will be looking to build on that great start to the year with their three-car, full-season assault on the endurance element of the Blancpain series. Once again the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup will feature teams of the highest quality racing the most aspirational and powerful GT cars around, with the championship highlight being June’s prestigious Spa 24 Hours.
Three BLACK FALCON Mercedes-AMG GT3s took part in the season prelude, that was hosted at the high-tech Paul Ricard circuit in the south of France – a track which during the summer will host the first Formula 1 Grand Prix on French soil in a decade. It provided an opportunity for the team to hone their own set-ups and procedures on a track that the series will visit later in the year, as well as appraise this year’s opposition.
The #4 Mercedes-AMG Team BLACK FALCON, the team's performance car, stars the all-professional crew of Maro Engel (Germany), Yelmer Buurman (The Netherlands) and Luca Stolz (Germany), race-winners all, who will be leading the team’s charge during 2018. #5 features a new partnership of drivers for BLACK FALCON in the Blancpain series, with the Pro-Am line-up of Kriton Lendoudis (Greece), Saud Al Faisal (Saudi Arabia) and Rui Aguas (Portugal). The third AMG entry, #6, comprises team veterans Hubert Haupt (Germany) and Abdulaziz Al Faisal (Saudi Arabia) alongside new team-mate Gabriele Piana (Italy), who is stepping into Blancpain after several years predominantly spent racing the team’s Porsches at the Nürburgring. Gabriele has already had several successful races in the Mercedes, and along with Hubert and Abdulaziz was part of the winning crew in Dubai, so #6’s drivers are riding high and will be a force to be reckoned with in the Silver Cup.
