At the sixth running of VLN championship at the Nürburgring the Mercedes-AMG GT3 number 6 scored the best overall result for BLACK FALCON coming home in sixth place. The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup BF number 57 scored a podium in class SP7.
Abdulaziz Al Faisal, Gerwin, Yelmer Buurman and Adam Christodoulou were the drivers of the only front running car entered by BLACK FALCON for the 39. RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 number 6 finished the race in sixth position after Christodoulou qualified the car for fourth starting position. The Brit missed the mighty eight minutes make by a tiny margin with a total laptime of 8:00.279 minutes.
For the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup BF number 56 of Tim Scheerbarth and Alex Toril the race weekend ended early after only half a lap. On a still wet track the SP7 entered car crashed in „Kesselchen“ during the first lap of qualifying and wasn´t able to compete afterwards. This retirement destroys all hopes of an overall championship win for Scheerbarth and Toril after a second place at VLN round three and this second early retirement.
The sister car, number 57 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup BF of Jürgen Bleul, Takis and Carsten Knechtges, held the banners for BLACK FALCON in class SP7 after Scheerbarth/Torils retirement. For the first time the trio entered a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup BF replacing the Porsche 997 Cup (class H4) that was used during the first half of the season. Being the only BLACK FALCON car on a podium they scored a third rank in class and a strong 22 overall.
In the hard fought Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport class CUP3 both BLACK FALCON Team TMD Friction cars finished the race. The drivers of number 942, Stefan Karg, Henric Skoog and Runar Vatne, scored the best result in the 2016 all new class so far finishing fifth. The sister car number 943 crossed the line in P7 after a flawless performance of Bandar Alesayi, Fidel Leib and Aurel Schoeller.
The BLACK FALCON Team TMD Friction Porsche Cayman number 448 was driven by Saud Al Faisal, Carsten Palluth and Milan Dontje in the twelf cars strong class V5. After starting from third position the trio lost some places during a confusing first lap but kept close to the leaders during the four hours of racing. In the end they claimed 6th position.
“Except for the early retirement of the Geutebrück-Porsche we´re quite happy with the result of the first race after the season's halftime. The second SP7-Porsche was able to score a podium at its debut and we improved our speed in the strong CUP3 class. It´s the same for our Porsche Cayman in class V5, we were fast enough to follow the leaders”, said the team principal Alexander Böhm after the race.
In no longer than two weeks’ time, on the 3rd of September, the seventh VLN championship race will be held at the Nürburgring. The ROWE 6 hour ADAC-Ruhrpokal-Rennen is the only VLN race over more than four hours distance and the highlight of the championship
