Things are going to get a little tight next weekend in pit box number 33 of the Black Falcon team. Next Saturday Black Falcon will begin the sixth round of the VLN with six Porsches and a Mercedes, while Black Falcon vehicles will be represented in six different VLN classes.
Only a short time after the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps the SLS AMG GT3 with starting number 2, which came in fifth at the 24h race at the Nürburgring, will return to the Nordschleife with drivers Hubert Haupt, Adam Christodoulou and Andreas Simonsen. With this strong team of drivers the aim of the trio that is starting in the VLN Specials SP9 class is clearly a place on the overall podium of the 6th VLN run.
The Porsche 991 GT3 Cup BF with starting number 57 will, as usual, be driven by "Gerwin" and Manuel Metzger in the VLN Specials SP7 class. However, the two will take part in the 6th round alone – a successful concept that resulted in the second overall position and the first place in the SP7 class at the third round of the VLN. Their teammate Philipp Eng will start at the Porsche Supercup at Spa Francorchamps this weekend and only sit behind the Black Falcon wheel again at the VLN 8 in October.
With a completely new body and the starting number 120, the second Porsche 991 GT3 Cup will make its comeback on the race track. Black Falcon team driver Burkard Kaiser will make his debut at the VLN 6 in the Cup 2 class, which will be the first time a Black Falcon vehicle takes part in this class. This debut had actually already been planned for the VLN 1, but had to be postponed until now due to a testing accident and the subsequent reconstruction of the vehicle. Burkard will be supported by the Spaniard Miguel Toril, who has also brought along his brother Alexander for the VLN 6. Alexander normally sits behind the wheel as Philipp Eng’s teammate in the German Carrera Cup and this weekend will be his first race for Black Falcon – welcome to the team!
The Black Falcon Porsche 997 Cup will start in the Group H of cars that are at least ten years old, driven by the regular drivers Jürgen Bleul, "Willi Friedrichs" and Carsten Knechtges. Despite a defective flywheel and a light collision, the three were able to celebrate victory at the VLN 5 again in Group H. They had also won VLN 4, but without "Willi Friedrichs". Group H had already been won at the VLN 3 with the regular team of drivers. So fingers crossed, that “Willi Friedrichs" will now also be able to celebrate his hat-trick at the VLN 6!
In the group of VLN production cars the Black Falcon team drivers Aurel Schoeller, Sören Spreng and Daniel Schwerfeld will begin with the starting number 395 in a Porsche 991 Carrera. Unfortunately, this vehicle had to drop out of the last two races due to accidents just before the end of the race while in very promising positions. In the VLN 6 the trio is once again looking to win the class in the highly competitive V6 class. Black Falcon wishes the drivers the best of luck in their endeavour!
With the starting number 209 an almost historical vehicle will be brought back to life: The BMW M3 CSL built in 2003 will also start in the V6 class. It will be driven by the BMW-enthusiasts Markus Enzinger and Christian Reiter. The two long-time Black Falcon drivers are thus back in the car with which they were able to celebrate class and group victories at the 24h race in 2012 . We wish them a lot of success this time too – welcome back to the team!
The "small" Cayman production car in the V5 class only just made its racing debut this year. From now on it will start at every VLN race with the starting number 460. The car is growing in popularity as drivers advancing from the RCN series can have the “Nordschleife Permit A” issued after three VLN races in this vehicle, with which they are then permitted to start in all VLN classes.
As at the VLN 4 in July – which resulted in second place in the class – the Cayman will also be driven by Holger Spelsberg. He will be supported by "Jens", who so far drove for Black Falcon in the RCN and already achieved several good class results in a Porsche 991 Carrera. The "Cayman Trio" is completed by Vincent Kolb, who so far drove a Porsche 991 GT3 in the SP7 class. We wish them all the best for the new challenge!
Seven Black Falcon vehicles in six classes – that should ensure plenty of excitement in the stands, in the Black Falcon Lounge, the pit box 33 and especially behind the wheels of the Black Falcon race cars!
We wish all drivers, partners, friends and fans of Black Falcon a great deal of fun and good luck for the second half of the VLN season!
