BLACK FALCON Team 48 LOSCH has written history at the first 992 Endurance Cup powered by Porsche Motorsport at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. With an outstanding performance, the driver quartet of Loek Hartog, Christopher Mies, Tobias Müller and Noah Nagelsdiek secured overall victory in the 12-hour race and finished the race with a one-lap lead over the second-placed car. Meanwhile, the BLACK FALCON sister car (#5) driven by Mustafa Mehmet Kaya, double starter Christopher Mies, Gabriele Piana and Mike Stursberg fought its way back to fourth place in the PRO/AM class after an accident at the race start through no fault of its own.
The Michelin 992 Endurance Cup was the first endurance race exclusively for Porsche 992 GT3 Cup cars held on the demanding 7,004 metre-long ‘Ardennes rollercoaster’ at Spa-Francorchamps. A total of 28 cars lined up on the grid on Saturday morning for the premiere of the race. Untypically for Spa, the weather was at its best and provided great conditions with sunshine and temperatures above 20°C.
BLACK FALCON Team 48 LOSCH delivers perfect race
The Porsche 992 GT3 Cup of BLACK FALCON Team 48 LOSCH was driven by Loek Hartog, Christopher Mies, Tobias Müller and Noah Nagelsdiek. The LOSCH Porsche established a strong position in the top three as early as the first hour of the race and took the overall lead during the second hour. The team opened up a large lead on several occasions, but this was repeatedly reduced to a few car lengths by the repeated deployment of the safety car. In the second part of the race, the #48 pulled away decisively. Thanks to a completely error-free performance by the drivers and the pit crew, the LOSCH Porsche did not incur any penalties, while almost all the other cars were penalised with at least one drive-through penalty. In addition to the strong performance of the drivers, the #48 was the only car in the field to spend less than 20 minutes in the pits during the race - a perfect race in every respect, which was crowned with the historic first 992 Endurance Cup overall victory.
EAE-Porsche (#5) shows strong performance but lacks racing luck
The #5 Porsche, driven by Mustafa Mehmet Kaya, Christopher Mies, Gabriele Piana and Mike Stursberg, started from sixth position overall and second in class. A collision on the first corner left the car stranded in the gravel through no fault of its own. The team lost more than three laps due to the recovery and an additional pit stop. Despite this early setback, the outfit showed exceptional fighting spirit: As the race progressed, they steadily worked their way forwards with strong times and made up several laps on most of their class rivals. In addition, the #5 achieved the fastest race lap in the PRO/AM class. At the end of the race, the team finished 13th overall and fourth in the PRO/AM class.
Alexander Böhm, Managing Director of BLACK FALCON:
‘We are incredibly proud of the team performance we gave at the premiere of the 992 Endurance Cup. The victory of BLACK FALCON Team 48 LOSCH is a great success and a testimony to the hard work and commitment of the entire team. Our thanks go to all our partners, especially LOSCH and EAE, without whom this effort would not have been possible.
It's a shame for the drivers of start number 5 - without the collision in the first corner, a top 5 result and class victory would have been possible for them too. I was impressed by the great morale and performance of the pilots, who made up several laps and fought their way up to fourth place.’
The next race for BLACK FALCON is scheduled for 19 October. At the 5th round of the NLS on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, important championship points will be at stake in the battle for the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring.
