BLACK FALCON achieves best Carrera Cup result of the season and top-10 finish at the Nordschleife
- Hits: 2005
After BLACK FALCON completed the most intensive weekend of the season last race weekend with seven races in four different racing series, the team based in Meuspath draws a predominantly positive conclusion. Both the NLS at the Nürburgring and the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland at Zandvoort saw the best results of the season, but there were also plenty of retirements.
Nürburgring Endurance Series "Double-Header" - Round 5 & 6
At the NLS "Double-Header" on the Nürburgring Nordschleife Noah Nagelsdiek, Florian Naumann and Hendrik von Danwitz secured two top results in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR (#350). The IDENTICA Juniors celebrated their best result of the season and of their careers on Saturday with a strong tenth place overall and were able to confirm this performance again on Sunday with position eleven. In both races the BLACK FALCON Team IDENTICA Porsche was the best placed car outside the top class SP9 (GT3 cars) and beat several of the much more powerful GT3 cars thanks to an excellent team performance.
The endurance weekend in the Eifel was also successful for the two experienced drivers "Iceman" and Martin Meenen, who shared the wheel of the TEXTAR-colored Porsche Cayman GT4 (#950) in both races. With flawless performances, the duo secured two excellent top-10 finishes in the Cayman Cup CUP3 class, which is dominated by fast young drivers and professional racers.
For the Turkish-German crew of the BLACK FALCON Team TEXTAR - Mercedes-AMG GT4 (#140), however, things did not go so well. After a heavy guardrail contact in the first race on Saturday, the team changed its entry car overnight. On Sunday, Mustafa Mehmet Kaya, Mike Stursberg and Ersin Yücesan completed a successful roll-out in qualifying with the replacement car, the #141 Mercedes-AMG GT4. After a good start, the trio was in the lead before the AMG GT4 had to be stopped due to a technical problem. The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR (#57) of the two fast Dutchmen Paul Harkema and Niels Langeveld, which was scheduled to start exclusively in the fifth NLS round on Saturday, suffered an irreparable accident already in qualifying and was unable to take part in the race.
Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland - Round 9 & 10, Zandvoort
At the fifth race weekend of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany in Zandvoort, the BLACK FALCON Team TEXTAR secured the first overall podium finish of the current season. BLACK FALCON rookie driver Loek Hartog (#4) initially scored important championship points at the ninth round on Saturday as the runner-up in the rookie classification and eighth overall. The highlight of the season so far followed at the 10th round on Sunday: Hartog started the race from third place on the grid and led the field for 2/3 of the race ahead of the established pros after a fabulous start. After a spectacular fight with Porsche Junior Ayhancan Güven, Hartog crossed the finish line in second place overall. At the same time as achieving his best career result, the 18-year-old secured a superior victory in the rookie classification, which he now leads by 24 points. In the second Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, ProAm record winner Carlos Rivas (#6) secured important championship points in the fight for the ProAm title. The Luxembourger finished second in class in both races and travels to the next race weekend at the Nürburgring as the leader of the standings with a comfortable 49-point lead.
ADAC GT4 Germany - Rounds 5 & 6, Zandvoort
Also at Zandvoort, Axel Sartingen and Daniel Schwerfeld competed in the third race weekend of the ADAC GT4 Germany with the BLACK FALCON Team TEXTAR Porsche Cayman GT4 (#33). The duo secured important championship points on Saturday with fourth place in the Trophy standings. In a collision in the second race on Sunday, the rear axle suspension was so badly damaged that the race could not be continued.
Michelin Le Mans Cup - Round 3, Monza
At the "Temple of Speed", the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, BLACK FALCON started the third race of the Michelin Le Mans Cup with regular drivers Maik Rosenberg and Donar Munding. After a strong opening phase in which the 19-year-old Munding advanced to the top-5 with the BLACK FALCON Ligier JS P320 (#12), the team had a lot of bad luck with the timing of the two mandatory pit stops during several safety car phases. After two hours of racing, the #12 crossed the finish line in 17th place in the LMP3 class and 22nd overall. Next up for the Michelin Le Mans Cup is the major highlight of the season: from August 19 to 21, the series will stage two 50-minute races on the Circuit de la Sarthe as part of the supporting program of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Timo Frings, Head of Motorsport at BLACK FALCON.
"This was the first time in BLACK FALCON's 15-year history that we had to compete in four race series in one weekend. I am very proud of the entire team, who mastered the challenge with flying colors. Loek Hartog showed his great potential this weekend, and the top-10 result of the IDENTICA Porsche was also a highlight. In the Le Mans Cup we again showed that we have the raw speed. At the season highlight at Le Mans in a month's time, we then want to carry the good performance to the finish line."
