BLACK FALCON makes strong debut in the Michelin Le Mans Cup

BLACK FALCON Ligier JS P320

Michelin Le Mans Cup Race 1 - Race Report

At the very first race in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, BLACK FALCON caused quite a stir with a spectacular performance. While the team had to settle for 18th place out of 31 starters in qualifying due to the lack of experience on the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, starting driver Donar Munding delivered a fantastic performance in the two-hour race and fought his way up through the top-class field to 3rd place overall. At the mandatory pit stop after one hour, he handed over the Ligier JS P320 with start number 12 to Maik Rosenberg as scheduled. The experienced driver impressed in his first LMP3 race with consistently fast lap times and a strong performance on the track. Shortly before the end of the race, the team was set back by a drive-through penalty, which denied them a well-deserved top 10 finish. After serving the penalty, Rosenberg finally crossed the finish line in 17th place overall.

Lance David Arnold, Project Manager LMP at BLACK FALCON:
"We learned an incredible number of things at the first race weekend in what was a new environment for us and we were able to demonstrate our potential, especially in the race. Donar put in a mature and highly professional performance in his stint and set the benchmark for future races. Maik also did a great job and was strong over the whole distance. Unfortunately, we had a bit of bad luck when the pit exit lights turned red directly in front of our car. Due to the following cars, Maik rightly decided against full braking, so the drive-through penalty was justified, but also unavoidable for us."

Alexander Böhm, founder and managing director of BLACK FALCON:
With the first start of a Le Mans prototype in Team BLACK FALCON, a long-cherished wish came true for us. The action on the race track, the professional organisation of the ACO and last but not least the enthusiasm of the drivers for the LMP 3 shows us that we made the right decisions. A big compliment to the drivers who exceeded our expectations for the start of the season! My special thanks go to the entire team for pulling this event off superbly despite the scheduling clash with the NLS."

The next race of the Michelin Le Mans Cup will take place on the first weekend in June (04-05 June) in Le Castellet, France. At the Circuit Paul Ricard, the second race of the season will again be held over a distance of two hours.
