Porsche Carrera Cup Germany – Race Report Round 4, Norisring
BLACK FALCON experienced a turbulent race weekend at the season highlight of the Porsche Carrera Cup at the Norisring. David Kolkmann (DE) secured tenth place in the seventh race of the season on Saturday and sixth place on Sunday. Carlos Rivas (LUX) finished third twice in the amateur classification on the narrow city circuit, even though he was turned around by competitors in both races. Tim Zimmermann (DE) secured some championship points with a strong race to catch up on Sunday, although he was relegated to the penultimate position on the starting grid.
David Kolkmann drove two almost identical races at the Norisring: The 22-year-old started the races from ninth place (Saturday) and tenth place (Sunday). He caught the slower side at the starts and got into traffic jams on the narrow city circuit. As a result he lost a few places at first. Afterwards he fought his way past his rivals again and finished the race on Saturday in tenth place. On Sunday he achieved his best result of the season so far and crossed the finish line in sixth place.
Carlos Rivas started both days from position two in the amateur classification. The Luxembourger fought his way up quickly in the first laps of the seventh race of the season on Saturday and put the leader under pressure, before he was hit and turned around by a competitor. On Sunday Rivas took the lead in the first half of the race and defended his position without any problems. Shortly before the end of the race again a competitor crashed his hopes for the fourth victory of the season. Despite the circumstances Rivas crossed the finish line in both races in third place.
For Tim Zimmermann the weekend started very well with a strong qualifying performance. However, due to a penalty he had to start both races from the end of the field. The 22-year-old drove with a determined approach up to 17th position on Saturday and even scored a few points on Sunday after another race to catch up and 13th place.
The next race weekend of the Porsche Carrea Cup Germany will take place from 9th to 11th August at the Dutch North Sea coast on the Circuit Zandvoort.
