Black Falcon enters three cars in Porsche Carrera Cup Germany

For the first time in Black Falcons eleven-year history the Meuspath based racing team will participate in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. A total of three Porsche 991 GT3 Cup cars are ready to race at Hockenheim this weekend. The cars will be driven by last years runner-up Christian Engelhart, Garbiele Piana and Carlos Rivas.
Were excited to compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. The idea to enter the Carrera Cup had been on our minds for quite some time and with the new model generation of the 991 GT3 Cup finally everything is the perfect line-up for this step in 2017. For our debut season the goal is mainly to gain experience within the top class field before we will try to fight for the championship in the next season, says team manager Eve Wallenwein.
Start number 4 RN Vision Team Black Falcon
Car number 4 will enter the series under the banner of RN Vision Team Black Falcon. Responsible Behind the wheel of the Porsche 991 GT3 Cup with red RN stickers will be RN Vision driver Gabriele Piana. For the Italian this engagement marks a new chapter in his career and a step closer to becoming a professional racing driver. Having competed successfully in the Porsche Sports Cup, European GT4 and VLN during 2016 and 2017, Gabriele now joins the young driver program of Black Falcon and RN Vision. As of now, Gabriele is also contracted by RN Vision as a racing-coach and brand-ambassador for the Race Navigator. RN Vision is known as developer of the Race Navigator video analysis systems and as longtime partner of Black Falcon. The joint start in the Porsche Carrera Cup 2017 marks the preliminary highlight of this partnership.
Start number 5 Black Falcon
The Black Falcon Porsche number 5 will be driven by last years runner-up Christian Engelhart. His car will be painted in blue with the logos of his partners ZF/TRW. The 30-year-old engineer competes for the ninth time in the Carrera Cup. Due to his duties as Lamborghini factory driver, Engelhart will miss two out of of seven events.
At the season opener in Hockenheim, Engelhart will be replaced by Tom Kieffer. The 42-year-old entrepreneur will make his debut in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. The mid-september race at the Sachsenring circuit will be taken over by his fellow countryman Christian Kosch, who will take the wheel of the Engelhart-car. Both drivers are competing with Black Falcon in the Porsche Sports Cup and have already won several races. The guest entrants are great additions to the Porsche Sports Cup programme and a useful reference for the two drivers.
Start number 6 Black Falcon
With Black Falcon the Luxembourgian entrepreneur Carlos Rivas will make his debut in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. The 40-year-old completes Black Falcons 2017 line-up with the number 6 991 GT3 Cup. Rivas brings a lot of experience to the team, having competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup France, the GT3 Cup Challenge BeNeLux and the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup. His main aim will be a competitive result in the amateur rankings.
The Porsche Carrera Cup Germany consists of 14 races taking place on seven race weekends and six different circuits in Germany and Austria. At five occasions, the series will support the prestigious German Touring Masters Championship (DTM) and on two race weekends, it will join the ADAC GT Masters. Each race weekend will start with a 25 minute sprint race on Saturday and a 35 minute sprint race on Sunday. Both results will equally count for the championship and will be live streamed on the internet as well as broadcast on German TV channel "Sport 1. The structurally identical vehicles and the high-class field will ensure top-class racing.
